Research on culture or different style on character design

For the games culture on character style, I cannot esay distinguish between European and American in details. But I can esaily distinguish Chinese, Korean and Japanese.

For the Japanese, it is earliest developing video games in the world with European and American. even today, there still lots of video game developer such as snoy,nintendo and so on.

The typical japanese style character is base on manga.Such as [Dragon Quest],the characther designer is Akira Toriyama who is the famous manga artist. The representative is [Dragon Ball]. So when you play DQ, the chararcter is a sense of from [Deagon Ball].

Another hot manga [Sword Art Online],the game(I think the game is not as good as the original manga, even though I'm not play) is adaptation from the anime.

These above are the typical Japanese RPG game character style, there are many many similar Japanese game.So when people talk about Japanese games, is must accociate to there manga.
For the character style, in my view, it can see the shadow of the traditional Japanese art Ukiyo-e. Concise and generality lines,flat colour,high colour purity.
For the Japanese culture, the first thing I think of is Japanese Yo-kai(the Snow woman,the fox has nine tails and so on ), and I know some Japanese game or Japanese Character is base on that.

Ubisoft has a try, that put Japanese culture in [heroes of might and magic VI].(I will do more research on this game later). One faction is called Sanctuary, that is a faction created by Japanese culture.

Japanese anime and games use lots of other culture for their reference, sword and magic, knight and castle, angel and demon,these element are no doubt from Europe,
For example, Castlevania, Fire emblem. They mix these two or more different culture, and creat a new mix culture. and this new culture woundn't make people a sence of awkward.
